Kill zone (inches) ?

Post by PRB »

I know some deer vary in size from north to south but could someone take a estimated guess on how many inches it is from top to bottom of the lungs if looking at the lungs broadside at eye level ? Does 6 to 7 inches sound about right ?

On deer from around here the kill-zone is 8-10" it depends on the size of the deer.

Im sure you have seen this piney. Our deer are about 16 inches top to bottom so I would think about 10 inches on average deer.

Well I am not sure from top to bottom on the lung`s but most of us here try an sight in on a 4 inch kill zone . meaning two inches high or low of dead center . but or deer are small down here most good bucks are around 120 & 140 would be large .

. Our deer are about 16 inches top to bottom
That's big deer...
A moose's kill-zone (heart lung area) is about 18-20"

Read again. I said our deer are about 16 inches top to bottom and the lung area would be around 10 inches top to bottom.

I was just guessing but it sounds like 6 to 7 inches might be a close average here in TN.
Thanks for the link. I think I got that one from this site last year.
I like this one too...

Cheers
