two of my encores are thumbhole they feel great in your hands, what I like about the encores are you can change barrels to almost any calibre or gauge you like I have 7hmr and 7-08 bullberry barrel that shoot really nice groups. and the encore is the easy gun to customize to your choice. Lee

They are very nice guns , but a lot of states dont let you use them during black powder season because of the fact you can change barrels ! and that it is also a break open breach, always check your local laws to see what is permissable GREYWOLF

Thanks for everyones help on this. I ended up with a TC Omega that I found gently used and for the price that fit my budget. I am interested in the Savage also, but that will come later. I plan to do some testing with it this weekend and then try to put another deer down next week.

good investment there morepowr. I own a TC 209 X 50. I love it great versatility and accuracy...for the money its the way to go..when im hunting and where i hunt the area doesnt provide 300 yd shots so no need for a savage even though its a good one..I use 100 grains of 777 and 240 grain sabot..very accurate and user freindly it is..

Well if you are interested in large muzzel loaders for hunting, I posted a link to one a couple weeks back.

http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2 ... hp?t=11722

Is it crazy? Yes.
Is it stupid? Yes.
Is it legal? I don't think so.
Would any self respecting hunter ever do actually do it? No.

Is it really cool in the abstract? Hell Yah!
