r440, welcome to the Excalibur forum, if you just hunting whitetail deer a Pheonix is you best bet or an Exocet 200.with speeds of 310 and 330 fps, these xbows are easier to handle and cock than the emax. Both will take down any North American game.
Distances for xbows are roughly the same as a compound, most here keep their shot under 35-40 yds at best.

For deer, any excalibur product will be more than enough. Anywhere from the 150lb bow up to the Exomax, there will be way more KE for a pass through. With the higher poundage bows, the only ? will be "how far do you want the arrow to travel after it exits the deer, or how deep into the mud do you want it to go".

Remember that the more poundage in the bow, the more effert needed to cock it. You did not say that you need a cocking device or if your able to cock the bow with your bad arm. If your planning to use the rope cocker or cock by hand, with a bad arm or shoulder, I think I would stay away from the Exomax and go lighter to something like the Exocet200. IT is a little slower then the max but I think since you want speed, it would be a good comprimize from the max.

Shooting the bow from sighting in to practice to hunting, if you find it difficult to cock the bow, it will become more of a job then being enjoyable. About distance, even with the max you should limit your shots to no more than 40 yards with deer because deer are extreemly reactive to sounds and movement.

Hope this helps you and if you have more questions, please feel free to ask.

The Phoenix at 175 is the same as the older Exocet 175 which I have. This bow will take down just about anything that you're going after.

You say you have a bum arm? The Emax would probably be a lot of strain on your arm.

I would suggest that the biggest bow you should consider is the Exocet 200. Either way make sure you get yourself a string cocker. This will also keep your string centered when cocking.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Hello r440 and welcome. Make sure you check out State regs too. Some limit the max. weight to 200 and the exomax is 225.

thanks for all the replies,I think my arm would handle the cocking for now but I think I will get a cocker just to make it easier, and after reading I think I will go with the exocet ,a little easier all the way around.I have 1 more ? I cant seem to find a width spec. on these xbows,I will mostly be hunting out of an enclosed blind and am just abit curious about the width, and thanks again :D

36" Wide and 37" to 39" long depending on the model. 38 1/2 for the Exocet 200.
