The Air Rest

Post by Woody Williams »

My friends at American Whitetail Targets are marketing an arrow rest that the arrow is not touching anything when at full draw.

It is called - the AIR REST.

Can anyone see an application of this concept on a crossbow

Check it out at.. http://www.air-rest.com/home.html

This is an intresting concept. I think that for it to work on a crossbow, you would have to take a step backward, IMO, back to a no rail crossbow. The reason I think it would be a step backward is because you would then have to start tinkering with knocks, alinements. With using the rail, it just keeps things very simple. I like simple.

Now if you could incorprate this system into the rails without making the arrow too heavy, that could be a concept that would FLY  pun intended

I would hope too that the bow would not gain too much weight as well.

I'm like Tom, simple is best. But a frictionless bolt out of a eExomax, or Exocet 200, speed would be tremendous.

Well...I'm knew to crossbow , but not to bows (30 plus years) and I think you could still incorporate the air rest and keep it simple.

If you machined the rail to eliminate contact with the bolt and to accept the air rest at the front, it should be no different then sighting in a regular crossbow. Your adjustment would be made to the sight and not the rest. The back of the bolt would still rest just like it always have. Should actually be simpler than doing it on a compound.

Woody, all I can say is this. When you get one machined and fitted up, if you're looking for a beta tester, I'm your man. :D :D :D
