You should take your string off to relax the limbs. Never leave your bow strung in your car on hot days.

No. You should continue to shoot the bow in the off season, in which case you would not need to unstring.

With all of the additional practice, next season you will be even more proficient and confident.

just my 2 cents

If you remove the string, I believe you are supposed to remove the pads on the dissipater bars. My bow doesn't have dissipater bars, but I believe I read this (perhaps here).

Correct. I forgot to mention that.

I usually remove the DB pads and unstring after deer season (Jan 31). I don't shoot much during the summer, but if I decide to shoot targets or
3-D it's no big job to re-string and put the pads on. Come Oct. the string and pads go back on for 4 months!

keeping the string on

Post by psc71 »

After leaving my exomag strung for the first two months of deer season my impacts were four inches low. I have reset my scope and now unstring after each hunt. Its a pain but what else can I do? The video says keeping it strung all season is OK but now im not so sure. Do the limbs take a "set" after some time? my xbow is only a year old.

psc71 I believe that our problem is not with the bow or the limbs, but with a new string. Some strings take a litle while to reach their full stretch. Did you notice if the string changed where it sat on the rail compared to the markings there.

Many on here never take the string off for very extended periods of time with no ill effects.

Hope this helps you.

Tom,

I had the flemish fast flight on it. I did ensure the string was between the hash marks at all times. I bet I twisted that thing 2-5 turns every few months to keep it there. It kind of worried me, but my groups never opened up. this thing is a tack driver, even was when the impacts went low. I didnt chronograph it, so cant say as to whether the velocity changed. Maybe Ill do that after the season ends on Jan 31
Thanks Pete

I also do like Wabi does, string and pads off for the summer, stay on all Deer season.

I have one that is going on 4 years old and have never unstrung other then to replace a new string and re set brace height. Still shoots like day one, no limb set or loss of power. :D
