Which xbow?
Any information on which crossbow exocet or exomag?
Exocet 200 is the same poundage as the emag, the only difference is the Exocet has the new forward tilted riser and a 1" shorter rail. Speeds are the same, accuracy is as good.
The Emag has been discontinued so you may get a better price for one. Before 2002 the Emag was 185 lbs and the Excocet was 165 lbs. Its a win-win deal either way.

I am absolutely happy with my Exocet 175 lb. I bought it during the summer of 2004 and we took 4 deer with it in the 2004-05 season (3 for me and 1 by a friend). Our weather was so mild in South Texas this past season (2005-2006) that I only hunted one evening. I double lunged a small doe and shot over one in about an hour and a half of hunting on the last day of the special doe season. This was my first miss in 5 shots at deer. It was my fault. I have a new Varizone scope and I did not have a range finder; I made an error in judging the distance (even though I had some distance markers noted). In practice I can off hand shots in a 4" group at 40 yards; and better as I move the target closer, but I must know the distance to the target. I do very little bench shooting - I know the bow is accurate. I also have a Horton 3 dot red dot scope. I used it last year with great success. I like it because it does not have any magnification. I stopped using it because it is sometimes hard for me to see the dot in bright sun against a deer's silhouette that is standing in the sun; this happened when I was sure I had fresh batteries. I like my Varizone. I am more accurate with it at 40 yards than I was with the Horton, possibly because of the magnification and the fourth shooting point. I doubt that I will be taking 40 yard shots at deer - I prefer to stay 30 yards and under. The shots taken with my xbow have ranged from 14-32 yards.
Again - I love my Exocet 175. I also know that the Exomag is a great bow and I believe the Exocet 200 is the new replacement for the Exomag. Make your choice based on your height and strength - these are factors affecting your ability to comforterably cock the xbow. If I need to I can cock and uncock my Exocet by hand. I've not needed any additional power - it shoots hard using Gold Tip Laser II's and Wasp with the FastFlight Flemish string that came with it. I'm almost deaf so I shoot my bow without the dissipater pads in place. I can't tell any difference - ofcourse if you were standing next to me you probably could - but the deer don't seem to mind. I've shot deer with the xbow with the DP's and without and I can not tell there is any difference in their reaction. Deer react to noises they are familiar with - if they've been shot at with an arrow or bolt before - you can count on string jump - if not they just raise their head - like what was that? Ofcouse they get neurotic as the season wears on if they are in an intensely hunted area, so I'm not saying every deer is going to just raise its head and look when the mighty "twwaaaang" goes off; but, he will not have moved much when the bolt arrives - maybe 4-6 inches are the best estimates I've seen.
Good hunting and good luck with your decision,
patmax

codney, OK, it a case mainly of what are you hunting with your xbow. If your hunting moose or bison or elk then you may want to move up to an Emax, even tho an Exocet 200 would do. Personally I hunt whitetail with my Vixen and anything bigger, my 175 lb Paradox goes with me. The Max and the Exocet are pretty well equal in accuracy and speed (the Max is 20 fps faster). You'll just have to go futher to find your bolt on a pass thru.
Remember also the heavier the draw the more strain is being subjected to the bow including making the trigger feel heavier and trigger latch makes the string not last as long.
If you are target or 3D shooting that extra 25 lbs will get to you unless you are built like Arnold Shwartzanneggar.

You WILL NOT be disappointed with the Exocet 200. One of the deer I shot this year was about 15 yards from me - broadside - I was on the ground and the deer was slightly uphill from me. Arrow passed through both lungs and was stuck in the ground 8 or so inches about 40 yards passed the deer. As long as it says Excalibur on it - you'll be happy though.
