Post by Tar Heel »

Now is a good time to start updating my equipment for next season, the new vest looks like the way to go. Anybody tried them what do you like and dislike about them whats the best buy for the money.

Thanks in advance Tar Heel

Safety Harness

Tar Heel,

As far as I'm concerened the SOP (Seat of Pants) is the best one out there. You can also use it as a linemans belt when installing/removing stands.

One of the archery sites did some test on the SOP and the Hunter Vest. They did 3 or 4 falls from an elevated stand with the SOP. They planned the same for the other. One fall with the Hunter Vest and they called off the other planned falls.

Check out Summit tree stand site, and look under SOP Harness.

I think they still have the videos on there.

My 2 cents, for what it's worth.

Tar Heel,

Here's the web site for the test on the safety harnesses.

Don't try this at home.

Hey fellas thanks for the web site and good info, I was planning on purchasing a harness for the up coming season and after watching that poor test "dummy" crush his jewels I know what brand I'm going with.

Safety Harness

Tar Heel:

I curently use the Linemans style full body harness. I've had enough of it!
I have been looking into harness's, including the "Seat of the Pants" model which Woody put me on to. I will be purchasing this model before I go out again this season. Simplicity and Speed of putting on, as well as the security in the fall are what sold me on the model.
