Impossible to answer. The only way to know for sure is to go and shoot both. The one that fits you best, is the bow for you.
That said, I have a Mathews now and wouldn't use a PSE as stand for it. I am sure PSE makes fine bows but to me, the quality of the Mathews, the smoothness and lack of noise are sellers in my eyes. My Switchback has the least hand shock of any bow I have ever fired. Take one out in a shop barebow and it will be smoother than the competiton with silencers and dampners all over it.
Black and gold for me baby!!!

Thank's Desert Rat, that will help to sway my decision. The quiet/vibration factor is very important to me. The mathews bow is also $200.00 cheaper with only 1fps. difference. That cash could go along way in quality increased accessories as well. Does mathews stand behind their products like excalibur?

This will sound a bit trite, but honestly, the best bow to buy is the one that feels best and shoots best in your hands. I have shot many bows over the years, but the ones I still own are two 10 year old PSEs, and a 2 year old Bowtech. My next compound, if I buy another, will most likely be a Newberry. I am not bad-mouthing any manufacturer, and I have shot a few Mathews, but they are just not the bow for me. You may very well feel differently. The best course is to visit as many shops as you can, and shoot as many bows as you can; then you can make a decision based on your experiences with them all.

Shoot em all and you will see. It all comes down to what you want. No bow can do everything. Pick the one that does more of what you want. I like the Mathews Switchback of which they make 2 new versions, and the Bowtechs. I find the BTs are faster, but not even close to smooth when it is compared to a Mathews. There are also some great, Hoyt, Martin and Darton bows. Every manufacturer has top end and low end stuff. Just pick the one best suited for you.
