Hamilton turkeys

Post by pphoenix »

today i went to check for signs of turkeys, in one of the locations i'm planning to turkey hunt this spring, found lots of tracks in the snow, also where one turkey stopped and flapped it's wings, you could see in the snow.
it was really cold, but in the woods, without the wind it was actually ok.
as i always say i won't be out in cold weather fishing, but for hunting "scouting" rain or shine i'll be there.
any one from the area as seen any turkeys latelly.
For me hunting is just like Mossy Oak, it's not a passion, it's an Obsession

Got plenty of turkeys here in Monroe County Robert. Got in a new club this week and went out to check for turkey sign today. It was raining and I was not able to get into the front side of the property due to the red clay. Went to the back and saw some nice ridges and hardwood bottoms close to the river. I am sure I will have a great season coming up. Of course last season wasn't to bad. Called two long beards for my 14 yearold son, one jake for my Father-in-law and I killed a 21lber with a 10&1/2 inch beard. Thinking about trying the xbow this year on some turkeys. The turkeys are out there. Just to cold for them to come out of hybernation up north..........LOL :D
If you keep a child in the woods and off the streets, I won,t have to deal with them when they grow up.

  I guess that is the difference in your turkeys compared to our Canadian turkeys ........... ours are tougher .....

This fall when hunting deer from the climber that I bought off a member from here during a snow storm on a cold day I had about 15 walk past me, even had one fly up into the tree dirrectly above me (what a wake up call). Sitting in my stand, wearing snow camo ........ they spotted me very easily and took to flight. BUt I still could have taken a large tom if there had been a season.

   I also think that Canadian Turkeys love our winters
