Bag Target for crossbow?

Post by joeumholtz »

Is anyone using a bag trrrarget for their Excalibur? If so, what brand? Has it proven reliable? I'd like to use a bag target but am unsure what one to purchase. I shoot an Exocet 200.

I use a feed bag stuffed really tight with old plastic grocery bags. It takes a long time to get enough of them, but it works great. Carbons out of my Exocet 175 with 100 grain heads only pentrate about 3-4 inches at 20 yards.
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

Bag Target

Protektron, out of Gayleton,PA.sell a crosswoven fiber bag filled with pieces of leather, for $7,plus shipping.
I have found it works great with my 175# Exocet.as long as I restrict it to target points.
When one area gets a bit perforated, you and use the opposite side, and then move all the leather to the other end for more shots.
Same woven outer bag as your 40 pound bag of sunflower seeds for birds,if it gets too perforated.

I use a cheap Cabelaas bag target for field points and I still use the foam for broadheads, 6 inches of foam so the fletchings dont bury and the broadhead is exposed on the backside.

The bag I use is called a deadstop. Pull field points out with 2 fingers.

I use the feed sac stuffed with plastic bags for my e-mag.
It works great, doesn't cost a thing (except for groceries) and the bolts are easy to pull out. I leave mine outside all year and just slip another feed sac over it every 6 months.

Works like a charm.
