Now that's "got" to hurt!
You can tell by the pictures he was strugling to get away from the attack.
The Bear must have been pretty hungry. It seems a little on the thin side.
Them Innuit Hunters are pretty Tough.

That's been offered on other sites as well. I'd like to know where this happened.

Some of the photos shown elsewhere indicate that the bullet traversed front to back, passing right through the bear.

I would think he was very lucky indeed. I would think that most polar bear attacks are predatory in nature.

Not sure if this is true but I recall hearing of a way to prevent a polar bear from biting you. Hold your forearm vertically in relation to the bears jaws, apparently they cannot open their mouths wide enough nor will they turn their head to the side to bite. Once again not sure how true this is, even if it were true I'm sure it is easier said than done.

Looks like he did the right thing. Went into a fetal position, to protect his vital organs, likely with both hands over his neck. That explains all the scratches on his back, knawed on his head a little. This is what happens when you lay still, play dead, the bear ends up walking away. As far as pain, don't think there was as much as you think. That's the good thing about SHOCK, it there to protect you from the excruciating pain.

Was in a head-on car accident many moons ago, bent the steering wheel in half, puntured my intestines (bowel). I immediately went into shock, was running around to see if everyone was alright, and here I was the one in worse shape. Don't know what happened next, but boy was I in pain the next day.

I like that way the person filming does not help out but keeps filming. I would have thought a buck would use his antlers to attack the way a bull does with bull riders. Bucks fight other bucks with their antlers so why not a human?

Once again, wild animals are "WILD!". No matter how cute and cuddly they can be they are taught to survive at all costs. It is the chance you take every time you go into the woods.

I remember that deer attack, I seen it on the TV program "Animal Attacks" on the Discovery channel. It was said by the guy himself that was attacked that he had sprayed himself with deer urine...

I think the guy was kicked instead of antlered was because he was standing. To the deer maybe the guy looked like a deer on it's hind legs preparing to kick and it just followed suit.

From what I recall, the guys wife filmed the video of him getting beat up by the buck.

And as Ecoaster says, it's a chance we all take every time we enter the woods.
