I am glad you are trying to fight the good fight, however, if you really want to help the cause then why not promote the subject to the Compound ,vert bow hunters, to stop the infighting and start to co-operate so as to help get the numbers up? And have them not to try to push another method of Bow Hunting out. Especially one that has been around for so long. I'm also hoping there is time to change the title before publishing, because it "Will"set us back!

There is a push to recruit new hunters here in Oregon. In this months issue of Oregon Hunter, it goes into great detail of the decline of the amount of hunters in Oregon. Since 1980 the number of hunters in Oregon has declined by 50%. I could hardly believe that when I read it. With more and more restrictions being placed on hunters by the Oregon Dept. of Fish & Wildlife I can understand part of the decline. Oregon is only 1 of 4 states now that doesn't allow a xbow as a legal hunting weapon of any kind. When we talk about how easy it is for younger people to get involved in hunting, you would think they would be doing everything they could to encourage young people. One thing I've noticed most xbow hunters use varies weapons to take game, I would think many of these young people would evolve into vbow users, in fact I would hope they would. I encourage young people to try many forms of hunting and enjoy all of them. I would hate for somebody to miss out on any form of hunting. When folks go through hunters ed. they are exposed to all forms of weapons except xbow. I find it hard to believe that with some of the greatest hunting in the country there is such a decline here in Oregon. I think that says a lot about the influence of the anti hunters, and also how important it is for all of us hunters to stick together.

Don't get mad at him, it was MY title! If you are mad, yell at ME!
I can't say that I'm pleased with Petersons Bowhunting for their chicken sh*t response regarding crossbow advertising, but remember they do very vertically oriented publications! If the don't want to acknowledge crossbows so be it, but their crossbow specific book is a great stride forward and let's congradulate and support them on it. It's a good idea to remember that they are not the enemy here, they are just doing their best to survive in a very confusing marketplace. On the other hand, there ARE titles out there that are vocally anti crossbow. You want to get mad, get mad at them!

We already do that Bill....

Where the proverbial crap hit me in the face is that denigrating terminology this time came from one of our own and was going to be published in a CROSSBOW MAGAZINE.

To be quite honest, I could not believe that you suggested that title knowing full well what we are going through in the constant battles with the anti-crosbow people.

My LONG time subscription to Petersens' Bowhunting was dropped poste haste when I saw the editor's put down on crossbows. My subscription to Petersens' Hunting will soon expire and expire it will

I still say that ANY editor worth his salt knows word for word every article AND advertisement that is in each edition. He flat out crawfished when he caught flack from the purists.

I think I've read this thread before ? Or are these new hackles I see rising ?
Now, I may be new to this crossbow fraternity but in my circle of hunting friends when one guy makes a mistake and tries to make amends and get back to it, we don't beat the crap out of 'im to score points. Bill T says he heard ya, Elkhuntr says the're gonna talk. If I was an anti reading this forum
I'd be laugh'in my guts out . Like I said I'm no crossbow "purist " just a neophyte trying to learn a few things, who thinks the points been made,a points been heard, and sometimes you just gotta let those darts roll off your back and trust these guys to make things right. I think the only thing that makes any the term offensive is how you choose to react to it. On BOTH points don't give them ( anti's and anti crossbowers) any more ammo . JMHO

bails111, I agree; Bill T's made his apologies, and ElkHuntr's done what I think is commendable after the beating he took, just to come back.
Guy's quit beating up our own; IT'S GONNA GET FIXED! Let's be happy with that; and I'm sure a lesson was learned. If we (meaning "us" on this forum) can't at least be civilized, how can we expect others to?

So much talk about the title, I can't wait to read the article!! With so few positive things ever written about xbows, I can't wait to read what Bill T has to say. I personally believe cooler heads will prevail and am looking forward to seeing a positive and informative publication.

I've forgotten, is this Peterson's first crossbow mag.? If not, does someone have a previous copy they might want to part with?

Thanks Bill T for changing the title. It proves you are a good person and a great company man. You had a choice to make and I feel you made the correct one and listened to people that buy your product.

THANKS Diesel
