I guess it is my turn to tell a turkey hunting tale.
Ecoaster and I set out this morning to hunt a new area we were pretty sure there were some turkey residing. We arrived early and while standing in the dark rainy morning, deciding where to set up, we heard a gobble. We quickly made our way towards the turkey. We setup in a small opening about 100-150 yards from where we figured he was still roosting.
We called. He responded. We called. He responded again. On and off, back and forth. Sounding like four hot hens looking for a fella to russle their feathers must have been too much. A little over an hour into our sweet love song, he showed himself. Went into strut, went out of strut and then played dead.
Pretty good way to start the weekend. A tagged turkey at 7:10am. He has about a 9.5" beard, and his spurs are about 3/4" and 1"(a non-typical) in length. Still haven't had him officially measured, waiting for Carras to open up.
Apparently my calling doesn't sound like a turkey . So long as the turkey don't know I guess I'll be OK.
Thanks again to my hunting buddy, Ecoaster, for his tender calling, and taking some pics for posting here.

You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.
