HALF MOON OR PLATE NOCKS

Post by Matthias72 »

Merits/Defects about HM respect Plate nocks. Why someone tells HM not good to use with Exalibur Xbow?

I believe the recommendation of flat nocks only is more of a safety against dry-fire possibilities. The Excalibur's top release type claw mechanism does not need a half-moon type nock to keep the string against the butt of the arrow. The string hugs the rail as it is released. With a half-moon nock the nock must be properly oriented for the string to mate to the nock's dished surface or the string could actually be directed away from the nock. This presents another possibility for a dry-fire type situation. Why use a nock that could cause damage when it isn't needed?
