New guy here with newbee question. I am 6' 2" tall and have been considering the Phoenix 175lb draw crossbow. The company has advertised the this model as "for the shorter stature shooter"?
I've considered the Exocet 200 with the 200lb draw with no mention of size stature. Since this is my first crossbow I want to hear from the TALLER shooters and see what you shoot.
I live in Ohio and can go up to a 200lb draw weight, but kind of like a shorter draw pull and I'm sure 175lb draw weight will take a monster buck. Will the Phoenix fit me fine, or do I need a Exocet 200?
Thoughts please. Thanks!

Best fitting Crossbow? TALLER shooters input needed
It's the rail that's longer. A Phoenix 175lb draw crossbow will do all you need it for. I'm 6'1 at a petite 230 and use the older 175 Exocet.
1. 1/2 inches dif in the power stroke.

im 6'1-6'2 and wrigh in at a skinny 165pounds lol. I was gonna get the phoenix since 175weight is plenty for deer. But I found a exocet200 on ebay for 300bucks new lol. So i went with that.. It fits very well and I would reccomend that one. The max seems to be over kill.. but the phoenix or the cet would be perfect.
hope that helps some
either way, get the rope cocking aid with the bow. I can draw the thing fine by hand, but the rope makes it hellova lot easier

this is just my opinion . the phoenix is the way to go . it handles better from tree stnds, or ground blinds. alot easier to pack in heavy brush.power wise the phoenix may be little slower but you won,t have to look as far for your bolts after they go through. i have killed numerous whitetails and hawgs with the phoenix and it hasnot let down yet. the lighter draw lets you get in more practice. ihave a an exomag 200 and the phoenix and i will grab the phoenix most of the time if my wife will let me HAPPY HUNTING
Wow, can't believe the positive responses I'm receiving! Thanks guys/gals. My mind is made up that I will purchase a Excalibur Crossbow within a month. I just want to make sure I pick the right fitted sized bow for myself.
A friend who owns a compound crossbow @150lbs stated that only 1 bolt over the years did not exit the animal. So I am sure the Phoenix with the 175lbs draw will finish the job. I'm just concerned about fit......
Keep your opinons coming, it's appreciated!

The "for short statured people" concerns cocking the bow. I'm 5'-6" and DO have a problem with the other models because I run out of reach when cocking them. As far as shooting the bow I have shot the others and there is little difference. Most people want maximum velocity, so they go for the longer power stroke. I am presently using a Phoenix and believe me it is more than enough for any deer in Ohio (or anywhere else). For taller people the Phoenix will still have the same stock dimentions, just be a little easier to c-o-c-k.
BTW - Ohio does have a 200# draw weight limit, so the Exomax would not be legal here.

Wags.... the Phoenix will do the job on anything that you want to hunt in North America. The Phoenix has a shorter power stroke and will be marginally better in brush.... let's face it... no crossbow with it's horizontal limbs is great in the brush.... if you are planning to shoot in competitions the Phoenix is a better fit because the draw weight is under most requirements and the arrow speed can be met by shooting a heavier bolt...... if you are planning on hunting bigger game like moose then the Exocet will let you shoot a heavier shaft and still keep the speed up.... both the Phoenix and the Exocet keep you under the 200# limit that some states have........
I'm 6'3" and 220#.... so for me the length of the 'trigger pull' (distance from butt to trigger) was more of a concern but adding a recoil pad solved the problem..... I don't shoot competition (with crossbows) but I do hunt moose so for me I'm kinda' partial to the Exomag.... just pick the bow that's suited to what you are hunting.... both the Exocet and the Phoenix are great bows.. you will be happy with either one.........
