New here and new to the crossbow concept. I live here in St. Paul, MN and we are unable to hunt with a crossbow unless disabled [which I am not]. I really like the idea of a crossbow and the power it can punch.
I have been contemplating buying the Exocet 200 with the Right Stuff package, but I keep asking myself one question:
If I can't hunt with it in my own state, is it worth the $700.00+?
Maybe you guys could shed some light on my situation. I appreciate the help
Welcome to the forum. The 200 exocet, Well that depends on the person. You can always target shot with it. Maybe there are 3D shoots around. There is a lot of people that own M16 , AK47 and so on. I don't thing they hunt with them.
So it's up to you. Is shooting one something you really enjoy or not ? If so how much do you enjoy it ? Is this something you may want to go to Canada and hunt with ?
If so buy it.
Appreciate the responses. It is really something i'll have to think hard about. Like diesel mentioned, I'll have to ponder over the hunting out of state or country thing and decide if it's something I'd want to take up with a Xbow.

HuntingGuy if you are serious about crossbows and wanting to learn, then get it. Price around to get your best price, but like it was said above, get a good bow not a cheap one. With the Excalibur bows, they hold their value pretty good if you ever deceide that you do not like the crossbow. TO prove that, just try to get a used excalibur crossbow. They also stand up pretty well, my bow is over 22 years old and I am still using it.
Good luck.
Tom

Geeze. That didn't take long to make your mind up. Less than 24 hours.
I know, I'm good aint I My only concern at this point is that it will be too confusing with all the bolt combos out there and such.. But I'm sure you guys can help me figure that out.
I just called the MN DNR, you need a permit to hunt anything with a XBow. What BS Oh well. I'll consider the Vixen, too. Im going to probably be looking for a used one. If I can't find something used, I'll buy new. If anyone knows someone selling the Exocet 200, please let me know. I appreciate everyone's input

Huntingguy, keep an eye on the new Trading Post section of the forum. You will probably find a good Excal on there before too long. Good place to find a used bow.
You could split the difference and get the Phoenix.
The Phoenix is my choice of the present lineup Excalibur offers. The (almost) ease of cocking of the Vixen and a little added punch. For target shooting the lighter models will be a little easier to shoot, and they still have plenty of power for hunting most (if not all) north american game. The heavier models can of course be used for targets, but they are harder to cock repeatedly, and I believe both the Exocet 200 & the Exomax are above allowable limits for IBO 3-D shoots. (I think it's a 190# / 300fps limit ???)
Dude, u have to get that exocet 200!!!! I love mine. I havent shot it in about 2 months up until i got back from Florida Monday. Hit bulls eye every shot!!
