FFF string

Is there anything you guys do to a FFF string before you wax it up real good to get rid of that pain in the arse black die. I am tired of that waxy black gunk all over my hands and fingers everytime I wax up the string or even touch the darn thing.

Gets better with age . I don't know. I just let it dry up over time.

It's something that bugs me too. That is another reason I started making my own strings.

The string material I use is more stable and colourfast.

Gees I have never had that problem, then again I use a small piece of leather to rub in thee wax ....

Bob, it's not tar. it just the black dye mixed with wax. Obviously, the dye is not colourfast, and when it mixes with the wax, it creates a sticky mess.
