I posted a few weeks ago about my buddies brand new EXOMAX splintering a limb (halfway down the limb). He recieved exceptional service from Dan Miller as EXCAL is known for. However, the limb just splintered in the exact spot again. The bow is less than a month old and has been shot less than 80 times, 50 the first time and less than 30 since the first repair. He is an experienced hunter and bow shooter, no dryfires or mistreatment of the Xbow. Anyone ever experience anything like this and what could the cause be, Dan Miller said where the splinter occured is a very rare spot for it to splinter. Our season opens in 8 days and my buddy is about to give his EXCAL the boot. The only saving grace right now is their customer service, I assured him they would make it right. Just hope it takes less than 8 days.

you might be right, Gary...GaryL wrote: reads like you friend needs to boot the MAX for a Exocet![]()

seriously, replacing one limb (if that is the plan), is not the way to go...you need to do both limbs so they can be matched as a set and simple as it may seem, especially with the max, should be done by at least a pro shop that has some experience with the bow type...
just curious, but what arrow combo is he shooting out of this bow ?...

Rich,
Did your buddy get that limb fixed? That is very strange that 2 limbs would fail at the same spot. Actually since I do most of the warranty here at the factory we are getting less limbs back all the time. The number one problem I see from limbs is due to user error mainly dry-fires. Interestingly, a lot of dry fire type problems happens when the arrow is not pushed tightly against the string. We can always tell when a crossbow has been dry-fired, if the dissipator bars are bent forward and the recoil plates are bent up there is no question the limbs took the blow not the arrow. We all make mistakes, dry fires happen, your best bet is to admit the dry fire and we will get you fixed up in a hurry!
Anyhow Rich if you have not been taken care of please call me here 800-463-1817 and we will get your buddy back into the bush. Most of us hunt here so we are pretty sensitive about getting users back up and running during the season!

Hey Excaliber Marketing Dude.
I love my Excaliber Xbow, and would not have any other brand, but I am getting worried about the Exomax. I own one, but have not had the chance to shoot it much. I was told by a Excaliber representive, that nine out of ten bows that are returned for warranty work is the Exomax. Is the Exomax just to much bow?

Peter,
He called the factory this a.m. and they are sending out the parts today. He believes they are sending an entire front section. I have drilled him about the dryfires, he says none. He is a very experienced hunter and I've known him for years so I believe him. The last repair was done by Dan Miller so I doubt it was an install problem, both limbs were replaced and it was the same limb. I hope this gets him fixed.

Rich just my opinion but he should be shooting a arrow of at lest 400gr. I will not shoot less then 424 from my Max. Any thing lighter = hard on limbs, eating up strings, just my .25 cents worthRich wrote:BJ,
He bought the right stuff package, so GT II and 100 grain tips/Wasps.
