Just bought some Irish Setter Boots

Post by crazyfarmer »

I went to gander mountain today to look for some shoes. I was gonna get the Lacross Broadside, but they only had the 400gram ones there. Those fit good, but I was surprised by a 99buck pair or Irish Setter big game trackers. The fit was second to none! Plus they were 800gram which is what I want since my feet like to get nippy lol. These are for muzzleloader and late season also.

If they repell water and etc the way they fit, then needless to say ill continue to buy their product. I had a pair of rocky bear trax's whic hwere 800gram also and worked well for 3 years. But they are wore out. I tried on EVERY pair or rocky's they had and really didnt like the fit of any compared to my old pair. Plus all of theirs were 150+ it seemed

I think I tired on 30 pairs of boots like danner and etc and the isirsh setter seemed to have the best fit, espically for the price!

the above is the pair I got.. I found out cabelas had a sale on them for 79bucks tonight also whiched sukked, but atleast I got to try them on and make sure I found the right size.. 11.5 is perfect 8)

I have a pair of the deer trackers. Bought them before turkey season and I love em. I did not spend a lot of time in water with them, but I do hunt a swamp so you have to go through it periodically. I hunted all day with them and stayed dry. They are as comfy as pillows strapped to your feet.

Good to know.. I tried on a pair of the shadowtrek's but I didnt like the feel of those as much(still nice but not the perfect fit). I wanted to try a pair of the tamarack's form Irish, but they didnt have those in stock. They retail for 159 though

I always walk miles in my boots, so ill find out the first week of use how they are made;)

  I've had a pair of those for about 3 years now...be sure to keep waterproofing them or one day you will have wet feet!!!!!!! My first pair leaked so bad after less than a year so they gave me a new pair....I spray waterproofing on them regularly and they seem to be okay now. Overall, I like them, light and comfortable. Brampton Mike 8)

NICE BOOTS

Post by Ridge Runner »

I THINK YOU WILL BE PLEASED WITH YOUR NEW IRISH SETTERS. I USE SNOW SEAL ON THE LEATHER AND SILICONE SPRAY ON THE GORTEX PARTS. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH ANY LEAKAGE AND MY FEET ARE ALWAYS DRY. IF THEY COME WITH FOOT INSOLES THEY SHOULD BE REMOVE AFTER EVRY OUTING AND LET THEM AIR OUT ,THEN PUT THEM BACK IN FOR THE NEXT OUTING. CHOW, AND GOOD LUCK HUNTING.

Just sat in the rain for three hours with mine then took an hour long trek through the swamp. Feet dry and toasty when I got home.

Just looking into buying the same. Label says warantee is for one year. Send back or exchange. You have to use the right sealant though and it varies from boot to boot in their line.

I posted earlier about the problems I've had with Rocky boots. I'll never buy boots or anything from the company again. Product was bad (twice) and attitude worse.

I've had my Irish Setter boots for 3-4 years now. About 2 years ago I noticed that I had cut the rubber toecap cover. I repaired that with a patch from a bicycle tire repair kit. Did the job.

Ridge, wil any silicon spray work cause I have 2-3 cans of that in my garage lol

John, I read your problem with them and that was one reason I went with a different brand. My old rocky's worked well, but they are just wore out. Ive always had good luck with Lacross also but figured i'd try some budget Irish Setters

1 year is fine also.. if they leak, it will be in the next month anyway;)

Boot Protectant

Post by John Wade »

I just posted this as a separate topic so I'm repeating. Mink oil or the sealant you're mentioning, doesn't this add a "stink" to the boot making you more identifiable camo or not?

just spray some cover scent on them before entering the woods. I really hose my boots down with scent away before hunting:)
