Rage Field Tested

Post by kendo kid »

Today is the opener and I could not hunt in the morning. This afternoon I was at my stand at 5:30. (Actually sitting on my butt against a tree on the edge of some thick stuff.) I thought I had plenty of time as it is still light enough for hunting at nearly 7:30. However, I was not at the stand for more then 15 minutes and I see two deer bounding through the forest. I am totally unprepared and they are about 100 meter in the distance. So I watch them disappear. I let one minute go by and I blew two times on my fawn bleat (Wabi's). 15 minutes later both of them appear only this time way to my right instead of on my extreme left where I had seen them before. They are close at about 30 meters so I can not move. When sitting on the ground I am at the same level as there eye so I must wait to move when both are looking in another direction. Finally, I get my chance and put my arrow through both front shoulders and the both lungs of the l. It made a hole about 4 cm when it went in and where it came out. The deer ran about 80 meters and dropped dead. Maybe he lived 4 seconds after he was hit. It is one of the shortest hunts I ever had. The morning was very rainy and not good but this afternoon was warm 16C and occassionally the sun was out. I took something to sit on so my butt would not get wet. It was a great hunt and the new Rage mechanical arrowhead I am using performed better than Spitfire I have used in the past. I am happy and pleased to get one on the first day of the season. Now I will not hunt until the end of October and I can do my Fall work. Rage has raised the level of the bar. The enterence and exit holes are awesome and by the second leap blood was pumping out both sides. I will use my Spite fire for backup. Rage you definitely got my attention. Bone busting was exceptional. 2 shoulders 2 sets of ribs and i still could not find my arrow. For all I know it is still flying

Congrats Kendo!

Tomorrow night will be my first opportunity to test the Raage broadheads(I hope). Your experience bodes well. I'll keep you posted if luck is with me.

Rage use with Crossbow

Post by Makomachine »

New member here - and hopefully soon to be Phoenix owner. This is a great forum with a lot of useful information for the first time crossbow buyer. I ended up here due to the Excal crossbow seeming to be the bow for me. I was a traditional archer but due to a hand injury, I'll be hopefully using a crossbow this season.'

Anyway, wanted to let you know that I called Rage yesterday to see if these broadheads were suitable for a crossbow. They told me they had been tested to not open in flight up to 350 fps and should work great with the crossbow. Sounds like from this post that it appears to be proven in real world situations. These and the slick tricks are on more short list for my setup once I make my puchase.

Did you use the 2 blade or 3 blade? I will be looking for mechanicals next year as I cannot get the Wasp Boss or my trusted Muzzys to fly well past 30 yds out of my new Excocet200. This is my first crossbow in 20+ years of bowhunting and I'm not too impressed so far. TC

TC,

I shoot the Muzzy 90 grain 4 blades and they hit 2" target circles up to 50 yards all day long.
