Serving Material

Post by ChappyBoss »

Hi All,
I was wondering what serving material is reconmended for Excaliburs. I have tried various vertical bow servings, but they don't last very long.

Its called braided kite cord from BYC. In the interum try some of the hi tech fishing lines like spider wire.

I think you will need around 0.03" but 0.026 works well (i've used 0.026" in braided fast flight with good success)

The crossbow serving offered by Brownell is .036 diameter and is made of a resin coated HMPE (High molecular polyethylene). I couldn't find info on BCY, but it looks the same.

Bowhunters Superstore has regular Crossbow serving that i find works great. In fact it has outlasted the serving that comes on Factory served strings.

Thanks All,
Wabi I will get my local archery shop to order a couple of spools of the brownell serving- no one keeps anything for crossbows here in Great Britain. But they do stock Brownell serving materials so should only take a couple of weeks.
Thanks ChappyBoss

Hi Swede,
Yeah one of the few shops to stock and have knowledge about crossbows. I believe Nick (the owner) and his father are/were involved in target crossbow shooting. I will have to order the serving as they were out of stock.
Thanks Chappy
