First archery deer
Last December (2005) I bought a complete Phoenix package and got out a couple times before the season ended. I've spent some time with it shooting both field tips and broadheads at home since September. Now I have to admit that I've been lurking on the side of this forum for a looonnng time Having said that I've always enjoyed the helpful and friendly nature of this site and should have joined long ago. The time has come and I can't put off joining any longer
Yesterday morning I went out alone to a spot we have been using a couple times per week. We've never been there without seeing deer. So yesterdays forecast was to be a nice day and I wasn't able to convince my friend to join me for the morning...instead he wanted to clean out evethroughs etc first thing. I arrived at my ladder stand in the dark only to hear deer departing. Climbed up and waited for first light. Saw a beautiful sunrise emerge in the east. Once the sun appeared over the horizon I felt myself comfortably snoozing...of all things . Much to my surprise I realized a doe had walked under my stand and was now beyond my shooting lane. Watched her proceed and eat at an apple tree then she later disappeared from view. About 5 minutes afterward when I'm no longer snoozing a large buck with "antlers out to here" walks by. Long story short...27 yard shot, donkey kick, 60 yard recovery and a pass thru hitting both lungs. There's 9 points total and rather fair mass to the rack. Inside measures 17.5" teeth look to be 3.5 years of age.
I would never have imagined seeing such a deer from my stand let alone having it come so close and it's far more deer than I ever though of tangling with. My bow is all factory, nothing changed or modified in any way and I can't say enough good things about how straight forward and well designed these are and they literally shoot like a dream.
I stopped off at my friends house on the way home and surprisingly he had the yard work completed. He was inquisitive and wanted to know what I had seen while gone... so I showed him then he wished he had changed his mind and joined me.
I'm hoping these pics will show properly.

thank you
Thank you very much TYE for fixing my pics, it sure makes it easier to view, I'll have to learn to do that. Thanks to everyone else who enjoyed seeing this buck and for the welcome to your site. Looking forward to spending more time with you on your forum.
