lone wolf or summit??

Post by lucky strike »

Thanks to all for replys on my stand choice topic. I haved narrowed my
pick down to the summit viper and lone wolf sit and climb-which one would be your choice and why-cost is not an issue!
THANKS, LS

My vote goes to the Summit, that's what I'm using right now and I really like it. The "Bullet" version of the Viper folds and certainly takes up less space than the Viper...it's worth the extra $10-$20 for the Bullet folder.
Mine is very comfy.

I vote for the Summit. I have one and I love it. I must be honest and say that I have not tried the other you listed.

I have a Lone Wolf Alpha Sit & Climb Combo and I love it. It folds flat, light weight, and easy to pack in and out of the woods. It is a very silent stand compared to some I've seen... They don't call it your silent partner for nothing, it truly is silent. Yes, they are pricy but they're worth the money IMO.

My father has a Summit Viper and it's a great stand, and very comfortable but bulkier than the Lone Wolf.

That said, both stand brands are top notch!

What model

Post by axis »

What models are you taking about with the summit and the Lone Wolf, that you guys want to get? There are more then one model. And why that model? What dose one do that the other one does not do? In Hawaii we don't use them. it hard to find a stright tree in a good spot. I was thinking about getting one but don't know to much about them.

sumit vs. lone wolf

Post by lucky strike »

While I had my post going I went and took a look at both the viper ss and the Lone Wolf sit and climb.----Lone Wolf, better quality metal, better construction, viper too manywelds----LoneWolf,better cable, better cam lock system, less weight by almost 3 lbs. overall.Folds flatter, less bulky-I checked out all the other parts, straps, buckles, seat, fasteners etc.The LW system appears to be more secure.I didn't like the safety harness supplied with the LW and the instructions could be better. There is no nomenclature and the print is dark.LWshould have a video for assembly and usage IMO. That being said,( and I've been wrong before)my money is on the Lone Wolf

info

Lucky Strike thanks for that info. it helps to see them up close and see how they are made.In a catalog you can't see that until you get one.
When you climb with them is it hard to do it or is it easy?

Lucky strike, I have a Lone Wolf sit and climb. I love it. I can't believe how comfortable it is. I get some real good sleeps in it :) They are expensive but well worth it. I love the built in bow holder (I shoot compound) I just tape it with hockey tape....no need to bother with the rubber grommet from LW.
I find it very quiet to put up and sit in. Just make sure you tighten the knobs on the platform, they can rattle while climbing. I think it is fast to climb. I was up the other day in a nasty rain, snow, wind and was freezing so I rotated the stand around the tree and was all warm and cozy.

The quality is second to none and the fact that it folds flat is the deal sealer.

Have fun and get in the tree!

When it comes to comfort - sitting for long periods - how do the summit viper & the LW compare. From pics it looks like the summit lets you recline more & would be more comfortable. However it is difficult to tell from pics. I currently own a stand similar to the treelounge (Doc's Recliner) it is really comfortable but heavy. I would switch to summit or LW but it has to be comfortable for extended periods of hunting. What is your experience? Especially if you have hunted out of both.

deerdhunter, I spent 11 1/2 hours in my LW on Sunday. It was unbeilevably comfortable. I mean I did not leave the stand!!!!! I did get cold... I did get tired.... I did get bored.... I DID NOT BECOME UNCOMFORTABLE!!!
You can recline your butt and the seat frame works like arm rests.
