Gotta agree ecoaster, it's hard when you have days off and can't go with the x-bow, i'm going next week with the rifle, so today i went to london on a cottontail hunt just to get outside, seen 4 got one, the buggers are all going right into the corn giving me no time to shoot. i'll get them once the fields are cleared.

R.J. good luck on that monster 10, but if you don't get him this week, eh there's still two more months to go.

Day # 4

Very windy !

CH and I covered alot of ground .... had opportunities on does and a spike buck but all passes since we are both hunting on our primary tags , so holding out for a decent buck or a rack buck that comes to a rattle squence ...

A fellow hunter ...

We tried a couple of routines for the Monster 10 point , but he isn't cooperating right now .... we will be back at it tomorrow ...

He looks similar to this one , only bigger !

And yep ... we still have till Dec. 31st !

leonk : We use slugs only .... the doe I hit was on the run at 80 yards ... I was shooting Remington Slugger 20 gauge 2 3/4 5/8 oz hollow point slugs ...

They go from zero at the muzzle to 10.4 inch drop at 100 yards ... I have a true glow front sight on my Berretta semi ... when I " float the bead " I'm dead on 25-50 yards .... when I " pin the bead " , I'm dead on out to about 85 yards ... when I " cover the bead " .... I'm in the boiler rooom at 100 yards .

Thursday / Friday ... have seen many small bucks following doe's ( no pictures , all in heavy cover while staking or on stand in low light ) .

Had a small 5 point and a doe nearly run me over today ... CH and I put the miles on today busting cover , trying to figure out where the big bucks are hiding ?

Small bucks , doe's and turkeys ... still , cool to watch !

In one area along the lake I found some shells spread out around an old shell belt that looks like it has been there for awhile ! ... had moss growing on it .... it had 00 buck , slugs , 3 inch mag BB , and # 6 bird shot ... man that hunter had all the bases covered !

Image

Tomorrow is the last day .... still working on the 10 point I saw on Monday ... I carved a new climber spot tonight ... will see how things pan out tomorrow ...

  You got that right ! ... hard to shake the image ! ... I have been back to that stand only once ... I replay it in my head ... should have maybe tried to coach him closer :?: I was doing some agressive tending grunts ... he was with does and started to follow them again ... shot high and that's all she wrote !

I keep moving around the property trying to pick his track up ... tonight I found an area that has been smashed down , nas many scrapes and rubs , and lots of deer hair in clumps on the ground ( it wasn't there yesterday ) ... looks like two buck were fighting ... I carved an new climber spot , will try it tomorrow !

CH saw what he believes was the same buck this a.m. crossing the field grunting behind a doe at first light ... I had a fork horn doing the same thing at the other end of the property .... seeing lots of chasing going on now ... still not peaked yet !

Tomorrow is supose to be rain !

You have an excellent eye for pictures!!! It's not only camera.
I have two questions for you:
1. Where exactly is that breakfast place? I travel 401 a lot that way (doing service type of work) and would love to try that dish. Looks good!
2. Your gun looks good too. What make/model is it?
Thanks!
