One Big doe, One Foot, Now My First ever BIG BUCK!!

Post by AirForceVet »

What a week!, I went in woods today and broke every cardinal sin in the deer hunting book.

I went to my blind, to just look around, I crunched leaves, walked everywhere (for about 15 minutes) put out a drip for syrup., and walked back to my blind, before getting there, I took a pee break outside. Poured some fruity buck jam over that area and said what the heck climbed in the blind to relax. Within 10 minutes, I heard something moving, biggest deer I've ever seen (my first year hunting bow or gun). it was about 40-45 yards out.

he wasn't going to come closer i thought as drip was near him.....I double lung'ed him. couldn't find blood for 25 yards, thought he got away...then saw blow out everywhere (wasp's)

I don't know if he counted as a 8 as his BIG spike on one side was broken off, it had about a 1 inch knob. How does that count??? he had two raised rounded one's starting out about 1/4 inch on ends....?

just wanted to share, i'll post pictures tomorrow, as I it was dark by the time i checked him in and hung him. WOWW what a rush.
