All wrapped up....

Post by Woody Williams »

Image

A buck mule deer relaxes Friday in Greenmount Cemetery in Durango, Colorado, with a purple vollyball net wrapped around it’s antlers. A Colorado Division of Wildlife officer assessed the deer and thought it would be OK the way it is until the deer sheds it’s antlers in February. Until then, wildlife officers will keep an eye on it.

Maybe he was trying to "spike" a ball?

Maybe he's going to add a few leaves and moss and have his own ghillie suit.

Looking rather feminine. I wonder if he's wearing stilettos as well.

I HUNT IN FLORIDA'S EGLIN AFB BOMBING RANGE EACH YEAR DURING A DISABLED HUNT. WE OFTEN HARVEST BUCKS WITH PARACHUTE CORD ENTANGLED IN THEIR ANTLERS. ITS SOMETHING ABOUT THE CORD THAT THEY CANT SEEM TO KEEP THEIR HEAD OUT OF. JAY

I hunt a military base also and I shot an eight point one year with a small parachute wrapped in his antlers. I thought it was part of his rack when I shot him. He looked like he had a giant mass of the weirdest antlers I had ever seen. When I recovered him I saw it was a small shute used to slowly drop flares that light up the night during manuvers. It has a steel cord that hangs from the bottom and holds the flare which happened to be hanging down by his face. After closer inspection, I realized that it had been going into his mouth whenever he grazed and the steel had almost completely worn away his teeth on one side.
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day anywhere else.
