10 Point Buck taken in Nashville Suburbs

Post by TNXBow »

Finally got the chance to take the 10 point buck I have been hunting for the past 2 months. I have seen this buck several times. On the Friday 11/24, the buck bedded down 120 yards from my stand at the top of a ridge. I spent the next 90 minutes watching him. Finally, he stood up and walked away the other direction not to be seen again that day. I went back 2 days later hunted but did not see him. I did not want to “overhunt” this spot so I waited a week before I returned. Then on Saturday morning 12/2 he made his appearance. I waited for him to pass through a shooting lane and took him with a 35 yard broadside shot. My new Exomax put my Wasp Boss broadhead right on target for a double lung shot. He went down a ridge so steep I had to have a rope, pulley and 3 friends to get the buck out. It was worth the effort since this is the largest rack I have taken.

I have been gun hunting for 25 years and started crossbow hunting this season. I have been able to archery hunt in the suburbs of Nashville that do not allow gun hunting. I took a nice 8 pointer and large doe back in October using the NAP Spitfires. I went back to the Wasp Boss because I had better accuracy and this buck dropped within 60 yards. I have taken some juveniles gun hunting during opening gun weekend, but the crossbow is now my weapon of choice.

This forum has given me the opportunity to have excellent results and I appreciate the help.

Nice buck tnxbow! I live in Kleinburg, let me know if you ever want a partner or someone to hunt with up there. I've been going to an area in Caledon East & I'm always looking for someone to go out with.

:D Very nice and pretty Tennessee Buck, you should be very proud, I know I would. Yes they have certainly adapted to the surroundings, as you did, you just got to hunt for them. Congrats.
I don't think TN Deer will ever be as big bodied as Ohio Bucks. The minerals in the soil is much different.
