At times I also know that the law goes to far and in my Opinion tagging before pics is one of thoses times. Every thing else was done by the book so I guess I let my own convictions over ride the law in this case please do not shot me for it
It is not up to you to decide wether tagging before you move the deer is a good law or a bad law. The fact is, the law is says you can't and you are breaking it! Period! If you were an OPP (which I doubt), you would know that it is not up to the citizens to decide which laws they want to follow. A hunter is expected to follow them all not just the ones he sees fit.
Further to your rant, no one is saying you can't take a picture before you tag it, they are saying you can't move it from the kill site without tagging it. You have 2 options here. Take a picture with the tag on or, take a picture at the kill site before you tag it and transport it. SImple really!!!

I hardly think that a tag on a deer is "degrading". On the other hand, staging the photos of deer with their tongues hanging out, blood on their snouts and wounds is disrespectful to the animal. Take the time to clean them up if you're fussy about "degrading" the animal. Hunters need to take pride in presenting all aspects of our sport as positively as we possibly can.
Tagging shouldn't even be open to discussion, it's the law, end of story. Personally, when I see a tag on a deer my response is: "there's a guy who's not going to try to scam another deer". None of us is above the law. Having an "attitude" about the law will only hurt all of us as hunters.
As TPM said - we never know what impact our statements and actions will have on other hunters.
1. TPM is correct. Especially the part about what you are teaching other young hunters.
2. I wasn't asking you to prove anything to me. I was just saying that you might want to think twice about posting a picture and admitting to breaking the law on a public forum! If you want to do it, fill your boots. Just don't cry the blues if it happens to be the reason you get a knock knock from the MNR!!! Remember, ANYONE CAN READ THIS THREAD!!!
I thought it was fair advice but obviously you know better.
I agree . . .we should all follow the rules unless following the rules poses grave harm to another human being.
However, I am not here to judge. Merely attempt to offer insight and/or opinion. In this case, the tags should have been applied before moving the beasts, via Tigerpaws' own admission. Tigerpaw should have tagged them before moving them, then just removed the tags(and the blood) to take the picture and then reappiled the tags. In my pictures you will not see a tag, because I am not required by law to have a tag.
Regardless of the tag issue, those are awesome bucks and a great story behind them. Again, congrats to a successful hunt!

Exactly right, Sumner. This is a public forum. Each hunter represents ALL hunters. We need to keep to the highest standards of hunting for the sake of all hunters and our sport. We should follow the spirit of the law, not just the letter of the law.
Suicide . . .it happens. My Uncle had a large buck put it's head under the front wheel of his truck once, a cousin last Nov. had a doe run off a hillside at 12 Noon and jump in front of his moving car, I had a buck jump into the side of my car once as I was leaving my a.m. hunt(compound still handy ), another cousin had two large bucks walk down the same path he had just traveled to his stand within 5 minutes of each other(both died instantly) . . .Suicide. It's OK, we must comtinue our hunt . . .
