Surround yourself with good friends that realize the importance of quality flashlights and a good supply of batteries. Most importantly ones that know how important the guy on the last blood is. Next, is ones that at all times have an emergency supply of wobblies in the fridge.

LOL
Well, doesn't that make "hunting" more fun then?

Guess I'm lucky that my husband is usually happy to see me in camo (even when my mother comments that it's not very ladylike!) LOL

My friend advised me to "Check out those Excaliburs". Never thanked him enough!

Mine is two fold.
When I got my crossbow I(Like others) was under the impression that this was a long range sport.I was told to remember IT'S STILL ARCHERY and the same limitations apply. and also to HAVE FUN and not take myself so seriously.

You can't get too close! The Excalibur is capable of great accuracy at long range, but a deer at real close range is easy to hit.

My tip: Shooting from a treestand offers a different point of aim than shooting from the ground. ie A lower point-of-aim due to the arrow not dropping as quickly. Learned this one again on Saturday morning...missed a little 6 point buck from 20 yards...using the 20 yard pin...just creased his back and took a bit of fur...no blood..he ducked the shot a little too....he's very much alive, and very much wiser today b/c of me! You'd think I would learn this one myself...eventually, I guess!

He'll be a nice, smart 8 point (or better!) next season!
