Tricks for Storage of String

Post by DanO »

Every year I have to fiddle around trying to restring my crossbow. The string seems to need more twists and then less twists. Anyone have a better way to store the string so that the length should be close to the previous year. The video suggests pinning the two ends with a safety pin but it didn't seem to help.

I actually managed to undo the loop on the end of a very new Flemish String by accident. Any way to redo the loop? The string has only been shot 5-10 times.

thanks for any help. I'm a newbie to this board.

Isn't removal recommended in the off season? The Excalibur tapes suggest it's a good idea. Not so???

Remove your dissipator pads while cocked, and loosen one end,and leave it on the bow.
Good time to apply a heavy coat of wax on the whole string and especially around the loops.
Works for me.
