Rail wear question

Post by Beaver »

Has anyone shot their bow enough to actually wear the coloring off of the rail? I am getting wear on the nock end of my arrows where they sit in the rails but no wear anywhere else on the arrow. I sent some arrows to Horizontal Archery and he said that was perfectly normal. I am actually wearing my arrows out faster than I am bending or getting them lost.

Does anyone else have arrows that show wear on the nock ends?

Wear on the bolt nock end is very normal. It is caused by to the downward pressure, and friction when the bolt slides along the groove of the rail.

Haven't quite had my bow 2 months, exceeding well over 2500 shots on it..
The bow is showing wear in the groove the cocking rope slides in, but thats it. I inspect it daily with very probing eyes..

Beaver,

yes I have had bolts with worn inserts and I have also had the finish start to wear off the bolt where it touched the rail.
It seems logical that it would wear.

Wear at the nock is common, and should be expected.

Thanks

I was concerned that I might have something that might cause wear to the rail itself.
