O/T: REM 870 trigger adjustment

Post by Rich »

The trigger pull on my Remington 870 (SP) Slug gun is horrible. Is the trigger adjustable (by gunsmith) or will it require customwork by a qualified gunsmith.

Thanks Rich

870 trigger

I'm sure a good gunsmith can polish and rework your trigger. As far as custom triggers go I know of none made for the 870 or any other shotgun.

A gunsmith should be able to improve it. Years ago someone (Timney???) made a kit that improved pull & lock time.

Rich - I bought a trigger sear spring on ebay awhile back that reduced the trigger pull on my 1100 quite a bit and made it better for shooting slugs. Didn't do much for the creep though. It's around $8.00.

There's another listing on ebay for a custom trigger job for $30.00. says he can take out the creep and give you a trigger pull of around 3 1/2 lbs. He's in VA and only needs the trigger group. Can't vouch for this one.

Thanks Jim,

I only found the 45 dollar job out of Ohio. Is this a fair price for custom gun work.

Rich,

Not sure if it's a fair price. Guess it depends on how good the work is and what you are willing to pay. Here's the web page for the trigger job in Virginia.

With the right gunsmith and file the trigger on the 870 can be done with no problem. I've had all mine done and never had any problems...
