my advice is buy the best you can afford, several years ago my power was out for 11 days i had a new coleman 5600 generator it lasted just 12 hours ,i called the company they told me they are designed for recreation
use only. (did get a refund from the store) the same day i bought a honda
3800 and it has run without a problem each time i have needed it. Bob

However I have a Coleman 5500 thats going on 6 years old and has many times run day and night, plus used here last couple years on three outages and run from 8:30am till 9:00PM every day till the juice was turned back on. My Coleman 5500 states continuous use ....maple wrote:I agree with darkhollowarcher.
Get a good one. Honda, Mitzu, Kawasaki, etc.

Wal-Mart currently have this one available for $297 Can.
I'm waiting for them to have a clearance sale soon so that I can pick one up as a disposable item if anything ever goes wrong with it. LOL You cannot go wrong at that price (or lower).

I have the same features on a Craftsman w/ Commercial Briggs Eng. and 5gal tank that I use in camp. If you keep it serviced at regular intervals, it will last and last. Mine is 8yrs old and it looks brand new.GaryL wrote:I have a Coleman 5500 with battery charger, 2 120V outlets and 1 220 outlet cost was $400.00 + tax, have a 3500 with same outlets and got it at Big Lots for 299.00 and have a 1500 for emily. road troubles with a charger and two 120 outlets and got it fer 150.00.A.W wrote:Costco has a 2800 watt generator for $400.00.
Has anyone heard of "Champion" generators?

Used every year for 6-8 wks in camp and during Hurricane season. In 2005 we caught 3 Hurricanes in a row and each time the power was off for 3-4 days. I have a special breaker box to plug into after I turn the main breaker OFF. It will run my Frig, Micro Wave and a few Lghts. Also used to fill the well water tank.
