Question about turkeys.

Post by A.W »

I'm heading up to my propert for a turkey hunt tomorrow.

Last year Hydro came along and bulldozed and cut down all the trees and undergrowth along the hydro line. There are lots of mature trees either side.

My question is, Would I be wasting my time hunting the hydro line or should I hunt another piece of the property?

well if there are some good open areas there , put out a decoy in the open area about 30 yards from where you are setting, but first do some calling to see if there are any toms answering back. if it is early use a hoot owl or crow call to locate the tom, set up let him come to you

they say he is still up there.

I would agree with H.J. That is more or less the same set up I used. Trees on either side of me and me in the middle field.

its try and learn.. you will just have to hunt that spot and see if anything is gobbling. If you dont hear anything in the woods after a hour or so, then move to another hunting area.

it could be 5-6 gobblers, 1, or even none there..
