My Custom Stock

Post by ChappyBoss »

Hi All,
I have been working on my own custom stock for my Excalibur Exocet 200. It is a slightly target style in shape. I know it is no where near the level of Mark's stock (which are beautiful), but it should help me shoot better.
Here is a pic,
The shape is about right, but lots of work sanding and then the finish to do.

Any comments good or bad welcomed, but please remember this is my first try :D

Looks good so far! Should be a real custom for you with you making everything to fit YOU. Post more pictures when you are complete. Did you laminate the wood yourself or purchase the blank that way?

Groundpounder,
Almost impossible to get Laminate blanks here in Great Britain, so I laminated some thin plywood, to get the thickness I needed. When I am happy with the design I plan on importing a couple of coloured blanks from America, and doing a final version.
Anything to do with stocks is very uncommon here, so it is all a major learning curve for me.

I was thinking this would be a good summer project. I'm going to try making one out of maple. Do you guys who make your own use hand tools mainly or some types of electric tools to do the majority of the shaping?
