Freak Sighting

Post by ecoaster »

My wife and I went for a drive yesterday afternoon to check out some flea markets. We were driving down a back road when I saw a turkey about to cross in front of us. I slowed down to avoid hitting it and that's when I saw that it was a bearded hen! I was so excited. The first one I have seen. My wife thought it was funny that the first turkey she has seen up close and personal was a bearded hen. Maybe she's a good luck charm and I should bring her hunting  .
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

You don't see those that often. My dad passed up on one this season only because it was really small, like 12 pounds. I havent seen one though. Your wife must be good luck.

Truly cool. I've seen two horned does in my 67 yrs, but not yet a dike hen.

I killed a bearded hen this spring. Saw the beard and mistook her for a Jake. There was heavy fog that morning so colours were hard to distinguish.
