Crossbows are no threat to bowhunting.

Being a longtime bowhunter, and having used a crossbow successfully last season, I don't think they're much of an advantage.

Definitely apples and apples.

No wonder.

Archery is archery.

Great article, wish more of the anti-crossbow fanatics would read it and make an attempt to understand what it says.
Archery is archery, and if you want to use a crossbow and I prefer a longbow we aren't cheating each other out of a single thing!

Modern Compound Shooter: "That 'crossgun' isn't a bow - keep it out of my archery season!"

Crossbow Shooter: "It shoots ARROWS!!! It's effective range is the SAME as your bow! Accuracy free hand isn't much different than your bow either."

Modern Compound Shooter: "It shoots like a rifle. I've never shot one personally, but I know someone that has and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see THAT'S not a BOW! Get your own season and quit calling it archery tackle!"

Crossbow Shooter: "Screw you - I'll shoot what I want!" Leaves in disgust.

Traditional Archer: (Tapping Modern Compound Shooter on shoulder) "We need to talk about your high tech contraption that YOU call a bow."

That's the unfortunate truth of today's archery tackle hunting crowd. Elitism abounds and it's slowly assisting the anti's in destroying our hunting heritage. Here's to hoping that we someday can find a way to all get along and unite as hunters and outdoors people.

good article-and the one thing the anti crossbow group fails to take into account is carrying a crossbow will not get you within the 30 or 40 yards you need to take a shot-but it will help ensure an accurate and humane shot-just as a compound bow , using sights, a rangefinder, aluminum or carbon fiber arrows, factory fletching and all the rest of our modern equipment will.''Traditional'' means strictly that-''traditional''-wooden bows, wood arrows, turkey feather fletching no synthetic strings,or anything else-not that I have anything against that-my dad used to make all our own archery equipment, and I greatly admire folks who do-and have the time to spend becoming proficient with it.Until I do-my stick bow will be used for target shooting-but I will hunt with my crossbow
