A Birds Eye From The Vortex!!
I first off I apologize for not posting to much here, but I like to read and you guys have alot of good info. I recently under good advice from AWSHUCKS, BOO and SMOKEPOLEHALL bought a Vortex this spring. They are great influences for Excal on HNI. It has been a great bow and I love it! Now on to the story....
I have been wanting to film my own hunts for some time now. Dad is starting to hunt with me and would like to catch some memories while we both have the chance. I have purchased a Range Finder scope mount from BHSS and mounted it to my Lumizone scope. The range finder mount is a fine invention and a so simple idea! Well I made a plate for it out of Aluminum and attach the camera to it. I did not want to stick the Velcro directly to the camera and then have trouble mounting it to other things. So I put the Velcro on the plate, and then screw plate to camera just like any holder does. I have a Sony DVD108 model camera, takes the 3" DVDs. Did some practice in back yard and it works just fine. The plate is a little less then pretty, but after working nights it is what it is. I came home that day and sighted in and set up the camera for testing and then had my first hunt with it that same day after three hours sleep. The lord was on my side and I had a successful hunt that night. I think I may be the first to do this with a Range Finder mount and a camera, not sure. I was so worked up over the camera and focusing on it that I made two mistakes that you will see in the clip. Sony has a excellent low light mode, only works when it is on! LOL!!! Was about 15 minuets after sunset and we here in Ohio can hunt 30 min after sunset so in the swamp that I hunt it was a low light situation. I was able to lighten it up some, but it is hard to see. Second problem that may look kinda cool at first but hurt me was that I had the zoom all the way in, so the camera has a auto focus on it and it focused on the limbs of bow and the B-Head, deer is a little hard to see. I knew not to do this, but I had forgot about it in the heat of the hunt. Two lessons to remember. Then the only other thing that some may harp on, but some will not is I was so worked up seeing a deer for the camera that I shot a button buck, not that sad about it, but wished it was a nice Doe. Any ways here is the clip link to YouTube and some pics of the set up. Enjoy!! Thank You to my friends, Dan, Don, and Mike!!

That's pretty cool . . .even with the mistakes. Nice set-up you have!
Congrats on the harvest! Hope to see more from you in the near future.
By the way, what camera did you use to take the photos you posted?
