O/T: Heavyest deer on record?

Post by Country »

Anyone know what the heavey weight record is? I seem to remember a 600 lb deer from New York State. It sure seems like that can't be right. Does anyone know?
Im glad my Virginia deer arn't as big as those two that were posted. Freezers are expensive and those deer would for sure eliminate the desire for two deer in the cooler. One zzzzzzzzap and your season is over.

Thanks ESOX. Do you think he was the dominant buck in that area? Santa could use that one and retire the others. Good grief!

April issue of Outdoor Life (page 68)reported on the heaviest whitetail deer on record. Back in 1926, a Minnesota man shot a buck that field-dressed an incredible 402 pounds. The Minn. wildlife department calculated the brute weighed 511 on the hoof!

I think I'd faint if I saw one of that size wander by my stand!

From the Ohio Division of Wildlife website:

Male deer are called bucks. They usually weigh 130 to 300 pounds. The largest buck ever weighed in Ohio was 408 pounds!

Re biggest deer weight wise

Post by Michael Stogre »

According to a hunt camp quiz put out by the NAHC the answer is a 431 pound field dressed whitetail taken in Southern Ontario--
near lake Erie. It was weighed on government scales. It was taken by
a compound bow if I remember correctly.
