Spell Check

Post by tracer »

It would be real handy to have spell check in ( Post a new topic) like ever other forum on the net does. Just a thought, not that there is a spelling issue on this board or anything.

If you use Internet Explorer you might want to check this out. I use it and it works fine for me!

Try using Word, then just cut and paste your response into the forum. Just a suggestion. Works for me.

I notice that site just got hit from hackers. It would be nice to have a spell check right here at Excalibur as a convenience while posting.

I've been a member on some sites that are extremely picky about the quality of posts - content, spelling, grammer, etc. As much as it's nice to present an articulate and correct forum, I have to say that any spelling mistakes here hardly bother me. Usually the ideas come across pretty clear.

Personally I'm often posting with a toddler on my knee and sometimes find it tough to be as correct as I'd like to be. At this moment I'm also down a digit (stupid slip with a knife + 5 stitches  ) so the backspace key is my best friend right now.

My husband types using only two fingers - the hunt & peck method. I'm sure he's one of many on this forum that use that method. Typos happen. Doesn't bother me! I'd hate to see anyone post any less because they're afraid they might make a mistake.

Just my 2 cents worth... :D

Firefox 2.0 has a built in spell checker. It is more stable, and more secure than Internet Explorer too. I'd very highly recommend you install it.

My spell checker had knocked my spelling abilities back a bit, I used to be able to type my whole long winded, substance-less post without error, once I started using a spell checker my brain got lazy and dismissed the fact I once knew how to spell.
I use the one on the Google tool bar, works great!

Whats the big deal with spelling? I know it is important in certain situations, but on the internet? As long as you get your point across I have no problems with errors. Have you seen the emails floating around that prove that the human mind only needs the first and last letters of a word to be correct to read it?
