I usually have mine sitting across my lap. If I am in one of our big tree forts with lots of room I might have it leaning against something beside me. I like to keep it low where I can move it to get it into shooting position. (We have lots of cover around the bottom half of our stands)

:) I use a Northstarr climbing tree stand which I have used for many years now. I feel very secure sitting in it. There are hand/side rails that angle down to the main frame. here is room there to rest my Xbow limbs vertical. No need to ever stand up to shoot and small amount of movement if deer cooperate. I'm not pushing Northstarr, don't think they are in business now, they were in Michigan, a very light stand. I,m 68 now and it still works for me.

I am pretty sure they went out of business. I have a northstar archer climbing stand brand new in the box if anyone needs one and can win me over with an interesting trade.

As far as holding the crossbow, I use the gun holders on both my timbertall brute lite climber and my summit viper climber, they work just fine holding the crossbow.

I have a Summit Viper and can rest my exomag on the front rail of the upper portion of the climber with the stock resting on the seat or the rear bar of the stand or in a loop I tied on the cable arm. The forward weight of the bow holds the stock tight in the loop. I also have a TimberTall climbing stand that I made a holder for by bending heavy copper wire as hangers. The front peace is bent up like a regular gun holder & the back piece is bent down so that the weight of the front of the bow pushes the stock up against it. On the web I have seen the New Dawn Treestand Crossbow Holder & the High Point Crossbow Holder. They both look like they would work o.k.

I just use a EZ hanger.. screw that in the tree above my head and straighten it out so the bows right there for me to grab in front of me. Also it breaks up my outline whle in the tree  :D
