IMHO: If you did not have a scope, go for the lumizone. You already have a great scope so you would be paying a chunk of money to upgrade just a bit. I would keep your varizone, I am. It is a great low light scope!

I have had both, and two of each I might add. Both are good I found. I like the Lumi better, my preference between the two. Just crisper and a great field of view. The illuminated reticle is a nice feature that gets used in hunting conditions. Higher price and some extra weight could be considered an downside depending how you look at it.

You could definitely do better in a scope and it wouldn't be difficult. I use Leupold Gold Ring 3, Nikon Monarch Gold, B&L, Bushnell Halo, Varizone and a customized Leupold from Danny Miller. The Lumizone is distinctly better than the Varizone and will be my next scope. It is really reasonable for what you get and the warranty really can't be beat for what you pay.

I think it is worth it because I have encountered times where the crosshairs in the varizone did not show up well. Like when facing into the sun. I have yet to put the lumizone in the same situation but with the lighted crosshairs it should be fine.

Lumizone vs Varizone ---Worth the money

Post by bbbwb »

I used the lumizone for the first this fall. I am very pleased with it. I can not comment on the varizone as I have never had opportunity to use. The lighted reticle feature I did not use as the circvumstances did not warrant. However in the field useage I could see the feature being beneficial when facing into the setting or rising sun and it would provide the view of the reticle. I would certainly purchase it again if I was buying a scope.
