New xcal owner

Post by liaf »

I recently purchased a phoenix NIB off e-bay and the right stuff package-$563.00 for the bow and right stuff package. I did my intial sight in last week in my basement at 10 yards and can not wait till it warms up so I can go outside to see how it will shoot at 20 and 30 yards. I originally had planned to use a zeiss z-point-red dot(already had one) but decided for now to go with the vari-zone scope. I plan on experimenting with the z-point later on this summer. Anyway this bow is only for target shooting since its illegal to use xbows in New York. I live about 10 miles from New Jersey and I heard they probably would become legal there for any hunter for the 2009 season.Hopefully NYS will legalize xbows in the not too distant future for all hunters. I am very impressed with the xcal quality and the reasonable price I paid for it. I want to add I never picked up a xbow till I put the phoenix together. I will keep it stock for now but I can see Boo strings, STS and maybe a overhead quiver when I am able to hunt with it. I xchnged pm's with Awshucks on another forum and am grateful for all the info that he gave me. i doubt I will post much as I am quite new at this but will sit back to listen and learn. Pete

Welcome Pete.

You'll love the Phoenix. You can always bring the EXCAL down to VA during bow season.

Welcome Liaf!! You could put what I know about Excals on the head of a pin and still have room for angels to dance compared to these guys. Most of what I picked up either came from here or was related to tests I did prompted by info from my friends here. I think Gary L here has a signature line "Always Learning", lol.

Welcome to the forum liaf, you got a lot better start with the crossbow ( excalibur Phoenix) than some of us did.

Congrats Tar Heel
