Any members in the Germantown MD want a Deer Spot?

Post by LondonDave »

I was in Germantown/Poolesville MD this weekend at a NAVHDA test. A fellow Weimaraner breeder was there who lives on MD 118 south of Germantown. She was telling me about her problems with Deer over population and was looking for hunters to come onto her property to hunt with bows and thin the herd out. She told me she has had a number of hunters come on but all they want to do is shot a big buck and then they never come back. She is looking for hunters to shoot does and young bucks. She doesn't mind if a big buck get shot but she would really like to thin out the doe population.

She borders a conservation area where hunting is not permitted but the deer from the conservation area are always on her property feeding.

If anyone is interested send me a PM and I'll provide you with her contact info.

If I weren't already paying for one non-resident license (VA) I would be mildly interested. In Maryland the Archery season starts on 15 September and runs through 31 January I think. Unfortunately crossbows are only legal 1-15 October and 15-31 January. (unless you are handicapped)

They do have a LOT of deer in that area. The limit for archery is two antlered buck and ten (yes, 10) doe per year. I think in her specific area there is no limit on antlerless deer.

If you are from MD this would be worth looking into.

Only one taker so far. I thought we had a lot more guys down in this area.

Don't be shy. PM me for a name and phone number. This is a good opportunity.

im about 4 hours south of her but ive got enough deer on my own land to handle :D

if hunters need it, she should be able to get doe kill tags for her land. That way hunters wouldnt shoot the big boys and they would have plenty tags to use on does. Normally the kill tags are good for 25 per 100-200 acres. They let you control the deer at anytime day and night.
