After A Hard Days Turkey Hunt...
I finally got one
First off Id like to congradulate everyone else who has been successful this year and wish luck to those still going.
It all started at 4:00 in the morning. Dad and I got up and we decided we would go out and try a bush we were successful with last year.
We had no answers and it was a pretty slow morning.
(the dates on the photos are wrong except for the last ones,i didnt set the date till i had downed these birds and after I uploaded these pictures to the computer the camera decided it wont turn on anymore... time for a new one i guess)
Dad Sitting Waiting...
It Started to Rain...
Couple Shots of the Scenery...
We Went To Another Location...
With no luck at this location we went to work. At about 3 a friend of mine called me and told me he was standing on his front porch and watching turkeys accross the road from his house.
We packed up at work at 4 and headed off.
After a slight arguement as to where we should set up we set up in a low spot at the end of a corn field where the bush was kind of a U shape around the end of the field.
I started calling thinking nothing would come. THEN I thought I herd a gobble... And then possibly another.
I slowed down the calling and all of a sudden I herd something walking to my left. I look over and see this big red/blue head coming out of the thick brush, feathers all puffed up. I dropped my mouth call and tried to figure out how I was gunna get the gun up. I had it laying accross my lap as I didnt think anything would come out. Up to this point my father had herd nothing and seen nothing sitting right beside me. I slowly raised the gun and waited.
The bird walked straight for my decoys which were about 15 yards from me. When I had an opening I took the shot. The bird dropped right in his tracks. As the gun went off a Jake jumped up and out of the bush and stood there looking at the downed bird. My dad swung across and dropped him in his tracks.
We were honestly set up and calling for less than 15 mins. What a great way to end the day!
There not very big but there the first birds Ive ever called in. Mine was about 21 pounds 4 inch beard and Dads was about 17 pounds 2 1/2 inch beard.

We do cherish our moments together, and its gunna be tough for him next year with me moving away haha.
I kind of got spoiled last year, first day we went in and my friend called out two toms first thing and my dad and my friend got one.
Second spot we went that day he called out one for me and i dropped it.
Hes unable to hunt with us this year as he has to work and i was getting so frustrated with calling that i was about to give up.
Now i cant wait to get back out there
