I don't see why not. The only problem would be your inability to get after that bird if he won't come in and hangs up out of shooting distance. Just my opinion.

Good Luck and God Bless,

I always thought it would make sense, like hunting deer.

But I was told you're not supposed to hunt turkeys from a tree stand so I never bothered. Besides, I much like having my ass on the ground more than 20 feet in the air in a tree.

I have often wondered the same thing, I watch my tree stand from the road quite often, daily in fact. There are frequently birds right under it.
I have been told, and I believe it, that the birds realize the sound of the calls is not originating from the ground and it makes them leary.

That was my only theory also.

I was told that turkeys look up as well for predators.

I've tried it. They do look up, constantly. I think it could work if just used as an ambush. It didn't work for me as a call site.

A long, long time ago . . .when I was still brave enough to climb a tree . . .a group of birds(must have been around 20) came under my stand while I was deer hunting with my compound. It was impossible to move into position to shoot because I had 40 eyes on me. Seems like I waited for an hour(was probably only 30 seconds) for the birds to look the other way. Anyway, I got busted before I got the bow off my knee.

Yes . . .turkeys look up and your skyline is easy to see. Much easier to hunt turkey from a ground blind.

I'd rather wear out than rust out.

Thankyou for covering the most part. You are also limited in moving to better setups or covering areas that one can not get to in a stand
