Shot some today

Post by Jim22 »

I have not shot my Vixen for about 9 months so I decided to get it out and do some shooting. Had to clean the dust off of it first. I had put a new factory Dacron string on it to stretch out when I put it up last year and it had not moved off the mark closest to the scope. I shot 4 Gold Tip Laser II arrows and 4 Easton Crossbow Hunter XX75 2216 arrows. My wife had gotten me a Shooting Chrony for my birthday so I set that up to see how it worked also. I weighed the Gold Tips and with a 100 gr field tip they ranged from 361.1 gr to 366.3 gr. Speed I got from these were from 258 - 261 fps. Then I weighed the XX75 2216's with a 100 gr field tip and they weighed from 430.5 gr - 430.9 gr. They seemed much more consistent in weight than the Gold Tips. Speed I got from these were 247 -250 fps. I don't normally do alot of this tech stuff and rather just get it and shoot it. Anyhow does that speed seem about right to you? Oh, and the bow still was dead on after not being shot or unstrung for all that time. Got to say I was pretty happy with the speed. Got to love the Vixen!!

Thanks bstout. I wasn't sure about the speeds because it was my first time using the chrony and wasn't sure if it was set up right. Then when my new compound bow only showed 205 fps it sort of worried me. You're right about the Vixen being a pleasure to shoot and it doesn't wear you out doing it.
