Anyone care to share experience with mounting camcorder on their crossbow?
Just purchased a Sony Handycam mini DV and made a simple bracket, bolted on the rizor. Guy at the store says this type camera is about the least vibration sensitive. Other than the obvious try to keep dry, any tips offered? Thanks for any and all replies.
Surprised no one is replying. With all the videos posted on you tube, must be some Excals out there with this set up. I will post pic later. The bracket was a simple piece of aluminum bent into S curve. It's a little springy to hopefully take up some vibration.
i just bought a video camera to tape my hunts and am interested in the mounts too. but i couldn't really see this being a good spot to mount it with the force of the limbs would you? any other opinions out there?
sorry for the last post now that i look closer i see that the camera isn't accually mounted to the limbs but to the hole in the riser sorry again. i would like to hear more on this set up once it is tested
Looking at the mount hanging to one side looks a little awkward. I think the weight of the camcorder hanging over like that would really want to cant the xbow to one side. Have you tried spinning it around 180 degrees to where it is centered over the xbow. And maybe high enough where you can still see your sights. Just a thought.
I mounted a small cam on a rangefinder mount as pictures in Wabi's post
but I didn't like it,The view was obstructed by my Groundpounder mount and the camera I bought has a beep when you turn it on to film.
I love my groundpounder mount so the camera had to go.
If I get another it will go under the bow and will be a silent camera

GP -- the camcorder is a little heavy, but is somewhat counterbalanced by the quiver and arrows on the other side. I will probably only have cam attached when sitting in a treestand.
Warpaint just got a camera for his xbow. We are going to work on it this week with mounting it. Not sure yet exctly what we are going to do but will keep you posted.
I had a camera mounted above my scope for a while.
It works great until you fire the bow.
The vibration shakes the guts in the camera and puts it out of focus.
By the time it refocuses the action is all over.
I took it of as I didn't think it was doing the camera any good.
