I shop for bargains when buying components. I can often find items on eBay such as arrows someone has cut too short and there is little demand for. If they are too high there Archer's Nook keeps 20" aluminum shafts for around $25./dozen.
I usually pay around $2. for aluminum shafts.
Blazer vanes are about .30 per arrow.
Broadheads are where I spend more than necessary at times. I'm constantly trying new ones, but Magnus Snuffers are my "economy" standby. Usually about $4. each.
So if I'm lucky on finding bargains I end up with about $6.30 in an arrow.

But I have also paid as high as $16. each for bare shafts (with wraps & nocks included) for the trad bows. (Grizzly Stik tapered carbons) Tip those with a premium braodhead (around $10. each for some), fletch with premium feathers, and I have shot arrows costing $25. - $30. each! - and spent hours searching for a lost one, too!

Bob,

Roughly the same with the exception of the additional $9 for a Luminock. It hurt to watch that bolt riccohet and fly out of sight after the pass thru shoot last year. It sure look cool flying across the field though.

About the same. I use white lacquer and florescent overspray instead of cresting or lighted nocks...largely to keep weight down in back The Slicks up front raise my CPHA (cost per hunting arrow) by about $7, though. But, hey, I don't practice with 'em and besides, they're not likely to let me play with stuff like that once I hit the "home."

Thunderbolt $3.15, 2" blazers(3) $.48, Stricknines $9.31 . . .total $12.94

That doesn't count shipping.

I buy the gold tips by the dozen which came to about 4.50 each, when hadd wraps, blazers, inserts, weights, and etc and its roughly 10bucks per bolt give or take

I bought some firebolts and im redoing those but those run 6.30 per bolt, so they will end up costing 11-12 by the time I refletch

A little of topic, but it reminded me of a article that was in a Deer and deer hunting last year. Which showed the price most hunter pay per pound for venison. When you include equipment, processing, sometimes leases, guided hunt, etc... The coast of venison was way higher than lobster tail per pound!

All of my bolt's cost different. But, BJ on here give's great deal's on his Supplies. This keeps the price of Gold tips down. Finding different suppliers for other kind's, increases the price when you include shipping costs. As for exact cost per bolt, can't say for sure, with a broadhead on it, anywhere from $15.00 up.

All you guys are right , what it boils down to is things aren't getting cheaper everything is getting more expensive. Especially the thing we love the most, hunting & it's toys. I hope this isn't a bad time... for those not interested in messing with building bolts or arrows, i have started up a small business called Canecutter's Custom Arrows & Bolts. This is not my main job and don't plan on doing it for a living but i love making them for myself so why not make them for others for a reasonablel fee. I have made them for friends and they keep coming back. I started out making self wood bows and river cane arrows fletched with wild turkey, tundra swan, canada goose, & snow goose feathers of my own grinding and burning to shape. So i am from the bare roots of making arrow shafts. I know what is like, like i say i am not in it to get rich , just to make some side money doing something i take alot of pride and attention to detail in. I love the look of a finished brand new bolt or arrow. I am trying to work on my website but it has been slow i am alittle computer challenged in that department. If anybody wants they can drop me an email @ canecutterarrows@yahoo.com
Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
