First day out(plenty deer)
man its good to get back into the woods. I went this morning and didnt see one deer. My buddie took a 5pt with his compound and I know he was tickled to death. His first bow buck ever. Anyhow, my luck changed this afternoon. Ended up having 11 deer within shooting range(under 25 yards). 2 bucks and 9 doe total... but nothing big enough to shoot and I didnt want to take a doe there because its 2 very good bucks hitting that field so no sense in screwing that spot up. Both the little bucks(5-6pts) hit a scrape 7 yards from my stand LOL so it was fun watching them work that. 2 of the doe still had spots also!
anyhow.. plenty deer seen, just passed on them for now waiting for a crack at something for the wall

all the deer this afternoon came out about 40mins before dark so they were moving late...
I couldnt get to the stand I wanted to hunt since the wind which was supposed to be SE ended up being NW to NE here Had to swtich fields because of that at the last minute

Man it feels good to get back out. I saw three deer and two big turkeys in the morning, but they saw me first. I mainly covered ground to find sign because I havn't done any scouting. I went to a field for the evening and saw seventeen. Three were small bucks, a five point and two spikes.
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day anywhere else.

CF things are little different here. 3 bad winters with heavy snow, knocked the deer pop. down quite a bit.
But........... while out hunting for ruffled grouse last weekend, I did scare up a very tall tined buck. I'd say he was a 5x5 with the G2's a least 12 inches, likely score well into the 160's. Now to lured him in, about 1/2 mile from where my stands are.
Hope I can get him for our team.
